As part of the Italian Jazz Days festival, co-sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute and JALC, Greg will play at Dizzy's Jazz Club in Lincoln Center in NYC with George Garzone, Rosario Giuliani and many others, the week of Oct. 12-18 Performance at the MIBnight Jazz Festival in Bremen, Oct 30, for the CD release of Jonathan Robinson's Spatial Stasis recording for the Berlin based ITM label. The Lunar Quartet feat. John Tchicai new CD, Look to the Neutrino is out on Music Center Records. It features Marc Abrams, Enzo Carpentieri and Greg Burk. Greg's Quartet, including Gaetano Partipilo, Jonathan Robinson and John B. Arnold performs at the Musicamdo Jazz Festival in Recanati Italy. This group, including Fabbio Recchia on live electronics has recently completed a new recording. Greg Burk Trio with Jonathan Robinson and Gerald Cleaver tours Europe in early '09. Performances include Terni Grand Tour Jazz Festival, the Casa del Jazz in Rome and the AMR in Geneva. Duo tou in Portugal with trumpet great Hugo Alves. "The Logic of Chance" an in depth philosophical and musical look at the music of Paul Bley, is published by the Canadian Publisher Vehicule Press. This book was translated from the original text in Italian to English by Greg Burk. Many Worlds Burk's new quartet recording was released by 482 Music Jan 26th of 2010. It features Henry Cook, Ron Seguin and Michel Lambert. Unduality, released by Accurate Records on August 10. This duo collaboration with the great percussionist Vicente Lebron is a "delightful, non-linear" recording that explores Bach's first invention as well as Lebron's imaginative percussion creations. Ecstatic Weanderings released by Jazzwerkstatt Berlin-Brandenburg, is a a duo recording with visionary drummer Rakalam Bob Moses. Just as the name suggests, this series of full spirited duets captures the magic of creating in the moment. CD release at the Jazz Jamboree in Berlin on September 26. Rakalam Bob Moses/Greg Burk tour. Sept. 26 Berlin Jazz Jamboree, 27 Jazz School Luzern Switzerland, 28 Jazz School Zurich, 29 Milan workshop and concert at Fermento. Live solo piano performance and interview for Swiss National Radio in Lugano. Can be heard on the RSI 2 website. I taught at three workshops this summer. Fara Music and Orsara Music in Italy and Lagos Jazz in Portugal. It was a great pleasure and honor to play with some new musicians this summer including Billy Harper, David Wiess, Luca Santaniello, Marco Panascia, Silvano Borzachiello, Dario Diedda, Riccardo Fioravanti and Umberto Fiorentino. John Tchicai's Lunar Quartet performed in Orsara di Puglia. I performed with my trio at the Jazz Up Festival in Viterbo. The concert was recorded and will be broadcast later this year on radio RAI 3. |

The Path Here, the Greg Burk Trio's new recording is released by NYC based 482 Music. Featuring Jonathan Robinson and Gerald Cleaver, this recording documents 20 years of collaboration between these three musicians. Their previous recording, with guest Jerry Bergonzi, was released by Soul Note in 2005. Spinoza, released by the Sicily based experimental label Improvvisatore Involontario, features Davide Recchia, Pedro Girardi, Stefano Senni and Greg Burk in a series of musical dialogues inspired by the great philosopher. |
